About Eastbourne Borough Youth FC

Eastbourne Borough Youth FC prides itself on high standards both on and off the field.

2009/2010 produced two Sussex Sunday division winners including the Under 13s Division 1. The same squad also reached the County Cup Final only to loose by a single goal.

We are fortunate to have agreat bunch of managers and coaches, each running their squads with passion and enthusiasm - win loose or draw - and always seeking to develop players and providing high quality coaching.

All our Coaches are trained to at least FA Level 1 standard with many also holding Level 2 certificates

We actively encourage coaching development and subsidise our committed coaches in their own personal development.

Our club is run entirely by a dedicated group of volunteers - managers, coaches, assistance, subs collectors and committee members all give up their time to ensure that our club remains incredibly well run and a club to be proud of.

History

Eastbourne Borough Youth Started life as Langney Point FC back in 1996. The Club's honorary president, Bill Wheatley, started out with a hand full of lads on Eastbourne's five acres playing fields and within a few weeks the word had spread and he found himself with the makings of not just a team but a club. Bill built the club up over a the next 10 years reaching a membership of around 350 and encouraging parents and associates to get involved with coaching and running the club.

In 2005 Bill approached Eastbourne Borough FC chairman Len Smith about forming a youth section for the then Blue Square South outfit. It was agreed and Langney Point became Eastbourne Borough Youth FC. While enjoying the association with the most successful Eastbourne football team the youth section continues to maintain its own funding and is governed by its own committee.

Work being carried out on Priory Lane pitches

In 2007 a significant agreement saw EBYFC contribute a significant sum to the development of drainage systems below the out side pitches at Eastbourne Borough FCs home ground Priory Lane which after two years of hard work and investment has produced some fine playing areas particularly the South pitch which is almost county standard, drains well and is perfectly flat.

While maintaining their independence both clubs work closely together for the benefit of all with the Youth Section among other things running Borough Soccer Schools, providing ball boys for match days and attending Senior committee meetings while Youth Section members benefit from use of the Priory Lane facilities, receive family tickets to Conference home games on their birthday and are regularly invited to attend club events and take advantage of the Saturday Stadium Tours.

The future for EBYFC

Future plans for Eastbourne Borough Youth FC include the introduction of a development centre which will invite the best players in the region to attend who will be able to experience high quality coaching with a view to producing a new breed of talent which will perhaps one day step out onto the Priory Lane turf. Admission will be on trial basis with high level ability players being accepted. To find out more about our Development Centre please contact Nick Ducatel.

Our other big project is the further investment into facilities at the Priory Lane site. Drawings are currently being prepared (Feb 2011) and providing planning permission is granted we hope to take advantage of the extension of the south stand by having changing facilities built to accomodate our teams. We are always on the look out for help, sponsorship and volunteers so if you have a skill or some spare time why not drop Allan a line and have a chat.
