Eastbourne Borough Youth FC entertain sponsors at Priory Lane

EBYFC Sponsors visit Priory Lane

April 6th 2011

The committee of Eastbourne Borough Youth FC invited a number of the club's valued sponsors to attend the seniors match against South port FC at Priory lane on Saturday (March 5th 2011). This was an opportunity to thank the supporters of the club for donating valuable funds to provide our teams with new kits, rain jackets and other essential items. Also in attendance were a number of Youth Coaches who give up their valuable time week in week out to provide a great environment for our members to learn and thrive in the sport they love.

The afternoon began with a behind the scenes tour of the stadium expertly delivered by Borough Youth Coach and Priory Lane regular Martin Jones. Martin lead his captivated audience from the away changing rooms to the home dressing room where the Sports were already arriving.

A Word From The Coaching Staff

Borough Goalkeeping coach Dean lightwood then provided an insight into the match ahead and gave his view on the necessity for 3 points to offer a glimmer of hope for the Blue Square Conference outfit to stay up.

Gary Wilson then provided his views and the reasons for such a difficult season stating unprecedented injury problems and battling full time opposition were the main factors contributing to borough's low league position.

The Director's suite

Martin then lead the group through the tunnel, out of the Mick Green stand and over to the main stand and the directors suite. Here he introduced the days match official, Andrew Bennett, who took questions from the group including some from a youth referee offering encouragement to stay in the gamer and to make sure he developed a thick skin. Mr Bennett concluded that there may not have been too many questions at this point but felt sure there would be plenty more AFTER the game!

The group then retired to the bar to relax and meet the committee members and then onto the Legends Lounge to watch a much needed victory for the "Sports".

Borough Youth Commercial Manager Paul Maynard spoke about the strong links between the senior and youth sections and thanked the sponsors for their continued and valued support. Acting Chairman, Allan Staples, also thanked the sponsors adding that every single person involved in running the Youth section from subs collectors through coaches managers and the committee give up their time completely free to ensure all our 300+ members get the best opportunities through the sport they love.

The Game

The game was a great tussle of two of only three part time clubs in the conference which saw Southport take the lead through a first half penalty only to see Borough fight back quickly with two goals before half time and a further two after the break, Matt Crabb and Jamie Taylor slotting home emphatically right in front of the legends lounge.

The afternoon was regarded as a great success with much positive talk about the club and our vision for the future. The Committee on behalf of all our members extend a huge gratitude to all our sponsors and look forward to meeting with them again soon.
